The Reprogrammed Brain

I read an article this morning about how, even into older ages, the brain continues to reprogram itself as it faces new technologies and challenges - such as reading on the internet, or typing instead of writing. What is fascinating about the brain is that it has the ability to develop its own software to deal with new situations. So it occurred to me that we simply have to immerse ourselves in something that will cause our brain to reprogram in the way we wish. Want to have a more positive life, surround yourself with positive acts and thoughts. Want to quit an addiction, set yourself up to eliminate the addiction in your life. The key is to immerse yourself until the brain reprograms. While it is not a quick fix, it is a positive and worthwhile one. Nice to know there is hope out there for all of us!

If you want to read more about this, I was reading the article in the July/August issue of 'The Atlantic' entitled "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" My take on it came out of observations that the way people read and comprehend is changing with more exposure to the internet. Interesting stuff!
