Children Can Fly

I heard an NPR bit on the Obama campaign and they were talking to a bunch of African- Americans and asking them how they would feel if Obama actually got elected. One individual said something that really stuck with me.

He said:

"Rosa (Parks) sat so Martin (Luther King) could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama ran so our children could fly."

Although the speaker was speaking of black children, it occurred to me that all children could fly. When we adults let go of our prejudices and our judgments, we teach our children to go beyond the boundaries those prejudices create. Then they can fly!
